1. Verify them yourself — ask for the MC number and check it at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov. Good companies expect this.
2. Photograph the car in daylight, all four corners plus roof and odometer, the day of pickup.
3. Empty it and run it down to a quarter tank. Personal items aren't covered by cargo insurance.
